Dear Folks,

I just returned home after running two simple errands in the village. One was to deposit 2 library books into the box outside the library (I knew the library was closed by then) and the other was to take a few things to the post office to mail.

So I tootled on down to the library, walked blithely inside the building, walked up the stairs and was confronted by a "closed" sign on the library door. Oh rats! I had forgotten! I went back down the stairs, out the door and deposited the books in the box feeling a bit dumb.

Back in my car I made a right turn on the main street and by habit pulled into the nearby B-Kwik grocery store lot. Oh rats! That's not where the post office is!

Back in my car again I drove the short distance to the post office had a friendly chat with the postal clerk, she weighed the envelope, put postage on it, gave me a receipt and as I turned to head back out the door, she called after me, "You forgot to pay me the $1.42!" Oh rats!

On my way home (I didn't mess up any further, BTW!) I was berating myself for having those Senior Moments and then I sat a little taller and declared that those weren't Senior Moments, they were due to my mind being distracted with all sorts of exciting, creative and intelligent thoughts.

Hey, if Alfred Einstein could make such excuses for his Senior Moments, so can I, so there! :-)
