Hi Vee - I can think of a couple good reasons. Number one - it's the middle
of winter, the regular phone goes out, (well, at least mine does). Or you are
stuck in your house because of a storm. Your cell phone doesn't quit because
of a storm. It isn't connected to a line. You can still call out to someone
in an emergency, and don't have to try to slog down the road to the
neighbors. Second reason, if you kept the cell phone clipped to a pocket or belt all
the time, you likely have it with you in the same room. Slip in the bathtub,
trip over something... don't have to crawl to your phone. Just grab the one
that's with you.
I have a cell phone, I don't use it. I only pay a small set fee every
month, and it's worth it to me when I do have to go on a long ride alone. It
was very worth it to me when all the phones went out last winter for two days!
My daughter doesn't have a regular phone line. And other than the fact
that she doesn't ever get telemarketers calls, it isn't any different than a
regular phone. (LOL - except when she forgets to charge it..).
