Tomorrow marks the 100th anniversary of the landslide in Haverstraw, NY, which destroyed about 1/3 of the village and created a pit at least 150 feet deep. It was caused by digging the blue clay for bricks too close to the inhabited areas, and was the worst natural disaster in Rockland County history. There will be a ceremony tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Brick Museum in Haverstraw.
