Subject: Southworth and Sexton in Schoharie
Date: Wed, 03 Sep 1997 10:13:14 EDT
Hello Scoharie Cousins
Seeking any information on any Southworth, allied families and
Also interested in the Sexton family.
Nelson Southworth named a son (my great grandfather) Austin Sexton
Southworth, born in Seward. While doing research in Schoharie County
records, I found that Hiram Sexton, neighbor of Nelson, has notarized the
majority of legal papers I found. Hiram's father was Austin Sexton, Esq.
Have been to all of their graves, copied all of their families and cannot
a connection, if it exists. Is Hiram married to a Southworth?
Austin Sexton Southworth was alive in 1905 when a large works was
published on Southworths known anywhere in the U.S. He surely knew
his own name and contributed to this publications. He has a son and
grandson named Austin Sexton. YET, after his death, a son wrote about
his father and points out that his middle name was not Sexton, but
which was Nelson's grandmother's maiden name. I believe that he was
named after Austin Sexton, Esq.
Nelson, son Austin Sexton, and other family members were all in the
of the Methodist-Episcopal church. Do any of these church records exist?
Would like to add any connections and definietely need more on the Sexton
family of Schoharie Co.
Have large collection of Southworth information from other lines also.
