John Delance was born in 1775 in Keene, New Hampshire. He was married twice - his first wife died about 1807. He married his second wife, Betsy Chandler, his first cousin (his mother and Betsy's were sisters) abt 1807, when she was only 14 years old. They lived in Potsdam for the remainder of their lives. John died in 1840, and Betsy in 1857. John was the son of Delevan Delance Sr and Hepzibah Marvin.
