Sent the wrong e-mail first time. This will be easier to read and I signed it. Sorry about that! Wish it was possible to retrieve mistakes.
I have an old scrapbook with pictures probably dating from the late 1800s to the early 1930s. Some of the pictures could have come from Germany but I believe most are from this country. Many of the pictures are members of the STIPP family, some of whom lived in Lindenhurst. My grandmother's maiden name was Stipp and she lived in Lindenhurst for at least a few years in the early part of the century. Recently I have found out who some of the Stipps were and how they were related to my family but not all of them. Here are some of the other surnames that appear in the scrapbook: HOLLIGER, SOMAINE, SELLER, MEICHNER, WOLF, HICKS, SCHAFER, PFEIFER, WACHTER, METZGER, ZUPP, KOCH, LAICHINGER, a birth announcement for Richard DEBOE-or-AE-AR born Sat. July 5/30 8 lbs. (this announcement is the only thing with a date), BECKER, and a wedding picture labeled "Mr. Mrs. OLIVE HICKS" The funny thing here is that there are a few pictures of Olive Hicks and she's definitely female. I've gotten!
one picture loose from the paper and it turned out to be a postcard addressed to Mrs. Christian KOCH, Belmont, L.I. It just said that the person on the front is the writer's husband.
If these names mean anything to anyone, I'd love to hear from you. I believe a young girl did the scrapbook so I can't be positive about some of the spelling and the handwriting leaves something to be desired.
