Subject: [NYSUFFOL] Identity of Caleb-2 Horton's Last Wife Esther
Date: Sun, 21 Nov 1999 12:08:22 +0000
There is a suggestion that Esther was the widow of Mordecai Homan.
Esther Homan, widow, was in the 1698 Southold census. Caleb Horton
mentions his then wife in his 1699 will as Esther. He is single
(widowed) in the 1698 census. A Esther Horton witnessed the will of
William Whitehair in 1700. The wife of William Whitehair was
Delivereance Homan, daughter of Mordecai and Esther (__) Homan. Torrey
suggests she was a Mapes, perhaps because the name Esther ran in that
family.
______________
An Esther Horton witnessed this will in 1700, wife Deliverance.
Ancient Burial Grounds of Long Island, in NEHGR 53:74 shows William
Whitehair died 04/21/1707, age 44. (Name also in some records as
Whittier)
