"The Family of Richard Smith of Smithtown" by Frederick K. Smith shows this
wife as #705, daughter of Jesse and Charity Smith [p. 230]. It gives the
parents of her husband Thomas Arthur, as William and Mercy (Osborn) Arthur

I don't have info on this wife, but Nuton was often a phonetic spelling of
Newton.

No info on her either, but since wife no. 2 above outlived her husband I
think Pamela prob. married a different Thomas Arthur

The Suffolk County Historical Society has a transcript of William Arthur's
bible record. It has been published in the SCHS Register. It shows William
Arthur's birth date was 7 Nov 1730 and that his first wife was Mary Norton,
b. 29 April 1738, daughter of George Norton. They married 29 July 1762. Mary
died 24 Oct 1767, Saturday morning, 8 o'clock

The bible transcript says William's second wife was Mary Osborn, daughter of
Jeremiah Osborn of East Hampton [based on the gravestone and the statement
in the Smith genealogy it appears the transcriber must have misread "Mary"
for "Mercy"]. They married 31 Oct 1771.
Hope this helps,
