In the Name of God Amen, I Eliphalet Stratten of Easthampton in the County
of Suffolk in the Province of New York Yeoman being in good health of body
and sound and perfect mind and memory praise be therefore given to Almighty
God but calling unto mind the uncertainty of this Transitory life do therefore
make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
(that is to say) principally and first of all I Recommend my Soul into
the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be
decently buried at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but
that at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the
Almighty power of God and as touching all such Temporal Estate wherewith
it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life I give demise and dispose
of the same in the following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath unto Phebe my dearly beloved Wife the use and
improvement of my now dwelling house and home Lott so long as she remains
my Widow she not depriving any of my sons from making the use of my Barne
which is standing upon my said home Lott.

Item I give and bequeath unto my afordsaid Wife the use of three beds with
all covering and all furniture whatsoever is belonging to the said beds
my Wife to have her choice of out of all my beds and beding and I also
give my said Wife the use of what of my household goods as she shall thing
convenient for Domestick use, and I also give unto my said Wife the use
of two Cows so long as she remains my Widow and after her second Marriage
all the moveable Estate given to her my Will is that it shall be equally
divided among my three Youngest Daughters namely Rebecca, Mary and Phebe.

Item I give and bequeath unto my three Daughters aforenamed the sum of
twenty pounds each in Current money of New York to be paid them by my Executors
when they schall successively arrive to the age of eighteen years or marrage
which shall first happen

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Pierson the sum of five
shillings to be paid her in some convenient time after my decease.

Item I give and bequeath unto my four sons all my weaning Apparel and also
all my wainage Teem Tackling tools and Utensils of husbandry to be equally
divided among them. And my Will further is that in case the remaining part
of my personal Estate that is not above disposed of be not sufficient for
the payment of my Just debts and the Legacies above mentioned their my
Will is that my Executors shall sell so much of my Lands as will fully
pay my debts and Legacies aforementioned out of any part of my Real Estate
except my Home Lott and in case any of my Executors shall dye before the
Land be sold or will not take upon them the Executorship then the other
acting Executor or Executors shall have full power for to make Sale of
the Land as all my Sons might have done in case they had lived and acted
and as far all the Rest my Lands and real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever
that remains not sold for the payment of my debts and Legacies I give and
bequeath the same unto my four Sons namely Jeremiah David Samuel and Abraham
and to their heirs and Assigns for ever to be equally divided among them
when my Son Abraham shall arrive to the age of fourteen years my Son Abraham
choosing a Guardian to act for him in dividing the Land with the rest of
his Brothers and my Will further is that all my Sons that be of the age
of twenty one years or when they arrive to the age of twenty one years
shall have their equal benifit and imporvement of all my Lands unto the
time of division above mentioned except my home lot and what Land shall
be sold for the payment of my debts they finding and providing at their
own proper costs and charges, all the things that may be needfull for the
comfortable and honourable support of my Wife and my Children that live
with her so long as she remains my Widow and my Will further is that in
case that debts owing to me at my decease will amount to more then will
pay my Just debts the overplus shall be divided among my Wife my three
Youngest daughters and my four Sons equally and wherear the moveables that
I have above given to my Wife so long as she remaine my Widow shall after
her second marriage shall be divided among my three youngest daughters
and my Will is that my four Sons shall have an equal share of the said
moveables not withstanding what is above Specified.

Finally I nominate constitute ordain and appoint my son Jeremiah my Son
David and my Son Samuel when he arrives to Lawfull age to be the Executors
of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I do hereunto set
my hand and Seal the nineteenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and forty four. (five.
