In the Name of God Amen the Thirst first day of January in the year of
our Lord God 1722 in the ninth year of the Reign of King George over Great
Britain, I, Onesimus Talmage of Easthampton in Suffolk County in the province
of New York being very sick and weak of body but of perfect sound mind
and memory and calling to mind that it is appointed for men once to dye,
I therefore make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and
form following to say first and principally I give and recommend my soul
to God that gave it and my body to be buried in the earth at the discretion
of my Executors hereafter to be named not doubting but at the day of the
general Resurrection I shall receive the same by the mighty power of God
and as touching all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bestow
upon me I give and dispose thereof in manner and form following.
First that my just debts and funeral charges be all paid or ordained to
be paidin someconvenient time after my decease.
Secondly. I give and bequeath unot my beloved wife Rebeckah the west end
of my now dwelling house from the botom [sic] unto the top for the term
of her natural life in like manner one end of my barn that end thereof
next my said house and I give unto my said wife my teem and wainage with
one third part of the rest of my personal estate except my tools and instruments
of husbandry.
Thirdly. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Phebe Gold the other part
of my dwelling house and barn that I have not above given to my wife and
two third parts of my home lot and two third parts of six acres of land
adjoyning to the land of John Hodges and two third parts of my meadow lying
at Little Newark and one third part of all my right at Meantanck and in
the town commons reserving of that part that I have given my daughter Phebe.
Fourthly. I give unto my daughter Phebee after the decease of my wife all
that part of my home lot house and barn and six acres of land adjoying
to John Hodges land and right at Meantanck and in the commons that I have
given my wife for her natural life to be and remain unto my said daughter
Phebee and to the heirs of her own body with the other land and priviledges
that have given her and for want of such heirs to return to my other two
daughters namely Sarah and Mary all my lands, meadows right at Meantanck
and commons not above disposed of to her equally divided between them and
to be and remain to them and their heirs and assigns forever.
Fifthly I give and bequeath to my two other daughters namely Lands meadows
rights at Meantanck and commons not above dispoed of to be equally divided
and to be and remain to them and their heirs and assigns forever they allowing
my wife one third part thereof for the term of her natural life.
Sixthly. All my personal estate not above disposed of I give to be equally
divided among my three daughters and my will is that my daughters Mary
and Sarha shall have the liberty to live on that part of my hosue that
I have given my wife after her decease until they marry.
Finally, I appoint Edward Jones Junior and my Brother in law John Wheeler
to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
