Jeremiah Concklings Will
In the name of God Amen I Jeremiah Conckling of Southampton in the County of Suffolk in the province of New York Yeoman being in health of body and of perfect sound mind + memory praise be therefore given to Almighty God do make + ordain this my last Will + Testament in manner + form following (that is to say)
first + principally I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing in and through the merits Death + Passion of my Savior Jesus Christ to have full + free pardon of
all my Sins and inherit everlasting life + my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as touching the disposition
of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me in this life I give + dispose of the same in manner + form following
first I will that all my Just debts and funerall charges be all paid or be ordained to be paid in some convenient time after my Decease,
Item I give + bequeath unto Elisha Conckling the Eldest Son of me beloved Brother Cornelius Conckling the sum of twenty pounds ..... of New York
Item I give + bequeath unto Jane Conckling the Daughter of Samuel Conckling Deceased the sum of twenty pounds in currant money of New York to be paid her by my Executors when she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years or at her marriage which shall first happen,
Item I give and bequeath unto my adopted Son Jeremiah
Conckling (who is the natural Son of the above Elisha Conckling) and to his heirs + assigns forever all my Lands Meadows rights in commons and Right in Meantauck
together with all my Edifices + Buildings (my now Dwelling house excepted) that shall be in my possession or reversion at the time of my Decease lying + being within the
Township of Southampton being of what kind nature Quality or Quantity whatsoever that of right belongs to me either in my possession Reversion or by way of remainder,
Item I give and bequeath unto the aforesaid Jeremiah all my Stock of Cattle horse kine sheep and Swine (two Cows excepted) together with all my Wantage team tackling tools +
instruments of husbandry.
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Jane the use
of my dwelling house with the appurtenances for the Term of her Natural Life and after her Decease to the above named Jeremiah Conckling,
Item I give unto my aforesaid Wife two Cows as she shall see cause to take out of all my stock and my Will is that the
aforesaid Jeremiah Conckling shall sufficiently Winter and Summer pasture two Cows at his own proper charge for my beloved Wife during her natural Life and all the rest of my
Personal Estate not above disposed of as money, Debts, goods and all other moveable Effects Whatsoever I give and bequeath the same unto my beloved Wife Jane and the
above named Jeremiah Conckling (as I call my adopted Son ) to be Equally divided between them and my Will further is that the above named Elisha Conckling shall have the care of his Son the above named Jeremiah Conckling and of his Estate that I have given him as his Guardian until he shall arrive to the age of twenty years finally I nominate constitute ordain and appoint my Beloved Wife Jane and my beloved Kinsman the aforementioned Elisha Conckling to be the Executors of this my last Will + Testament and do herey utterly revoke disannull all + every other former Wills Legacies + bequests and Exec... by me in any ways before named Willed + bequeathed Ratifying + confirming this
+ none other to be my last Will + Testament,
In Wittness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and Seal this Eleventh day of January in the sixth year of the Reign of King George the second over Great Brittain + in the year of
our Lord 1733/32

(Probate to Concklings Will)

William Cosby Captain General and Governour in Chief of the Provinces of New York New Jersey and the Territories thereon depending in America Vice Admiral of the same and Collonll in his Majesties Army + e To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Greeting Know Ye that at Suffolk County on the twenty Sixth day of August Instant before Brinley Sylvester Esq being thereunto delgated and appointed the Last Will and Testament of Jeremiah Conckling was proved and now approved and allowed of by me having while he Lived and at the time of his Death goods rights and Creditts in divers places within this Province by means whereof the full disposition of all and singular the goods rights and Creditts of the said deceased and the Granting Administration of them as also the hearing of accounts calculation or reckoning and the final discharge and
dismission from the same unto me solely and not unto any other inferior Judge - are manifestly known to belong and the Administration of all and singular the goods rights and
creditts of the said Deceased and his last Will and Testament in any manner of way concerning was Granted unto Elisha Conckling the Executor in the within Will named the
Executrix having relinquished Chiefly of well and Truely Administring the same and of making a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the goods rights and creditts of the said Deceased and Exhibiting the same into the Registry of the Preogative Court in the Secretarys Office in the Province of New York at or before the the twenty Sixth day of
Febuary next Ensuing and of rendering a Just and true account calculation or Reckoning when thereunto required In testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative Seal of the
said Province of New York to be hereunto affixed this twenty Sixth day of August Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred an thirty four.
