According to a list at the Suffolk County Historical Society, enumeration
district 748 for 1900 included the communities of Southaven, Brookhaven
hamlet, Yaphank and Bellport.
Land records are in the County Clerk's Office in the Suffolk County Center,
Riverhead. The indexes for the deeds are arranged by grantor and grantee.
Before the 20th century the indexes cover the whole county. At some point in
the 20th century, which I can't recall now, they switched over to arranging
them on a town by town basis, but I don't think they you need lower level
communities.
