Dear Carolee,

My Edwards' are from Amagansett, and I know nothing of the ones from Rocky
Pt. or Mattituck. I will send a link, though, for Southold Town, of which
"Rocky Point" was a part. (I believe East Marion was first named Rocky Point.
and later the name was changed. It's a bit confusing, as there is a Rocky
Point now, which is located north west of Riverhead on Long Island. East
Marion is located East of Riverhead on the north fork of the Island._

Hope this helps you a little, and here's the link. Long Island Page of Pages Lots
of history here...and some Genealogies... including Hallock.

If you can get in touch with the Suffolk County Library at Riverhead,
they've got extensive records of genealogies. There is something called
"the Salmon Records" which is full of births, deaths and marriages...
I think I remember being told that Salmon was a newspaper journalist
(or maybe just a nosey neighbor!!) and was interested in recording these
things. Thank goodness! Also, there is a book called "Griffin's Journal"
which lists follows many family genealogies.

If you happen to make the trip to the Library at Riverhead, the Historical
Society is right next door, and for a small fee, you can use their research
files!

Hope this helps!!!
Kath
