Hi Jim --
Carolee Nichols Diamond has already contacted you -- we are both very
excited to find someone with information on the Miller side of our
Nichols family. I would love to send you the information I have, and
perhaps you will be willing to share your Miller information.
Carolee opened my Nichols "brick wall" just a few weeks ago, and
Phyllis Higgins in Iowa has also shared family information.
My husband's great-great grandfather was Erastus Worthington Nichols,
son of Samuel Nichols & (1) Sarah Miller. Erastus purchased property
in Henry Co., IL but never moved there. He was a ship captain in the
China trade, and died in May 1856 at the age of 30, leaving his wife
and one son, Clayton Worthington Nichols. At the time of his death,
his wife and son were living in NYC.
I also have some information on the Hoyt family, related to
Nichols/Miller families. The name Edson Hoyt was perpetuated in our
branch of the Nichols familiy -- Edson Hoyt Nichols, Edson Hoyt
Nichols, Jr., and Edson Hoyt Nichols III.
Here's what I currently have on Edson Hoyt--
