Mary Theresa,
You may want to check the Veterans cemeteries on the Island to see if Howard and
Edith are buried in either one of them. Also perhaps Howard was a member of the
VFW or something in that area.
I am not sure how common of a name Farnsworth is but a quick search of
www.whiyepages.com for all of NY brought up 50+ records, maybe if you wade
through them and see who may still be in Suffolk County. I always start off the
conversation with "this will sound weird, but...." and oddly enough I have never
had anyone rude with my questions. my husband laughs at how people just kind of
open up and tell me all kinds of info to someone they have never met-LOL!
