Near Port Jefferson, now Port Jefferson Station.
A post office was established 28 November 1888 w/ Charles A. Squires as
first postmaster. The name was changed to "Port Jefferson Station" 7 June
1910. Charles A. Squires was still on the job ! He's the first postmaster of
Port Jefferson Station, too.
