I have recently found one of my husband's ancestors in the 1870 census in
Southold and I have the following questions:

1. St. Patricks catholic church is in Southold - when did it start? Was it
there in 1870+/- ?? Are they amenable to searching for records ??


The family I have found is:

SMITH, Robert 33 M W Boatman born in NY
-----------Angeli* 21 F W Kept House born in NY
-----------Frank 3or8 M W born
in NY
1870 US Federal Census, Suffolk Co, Southold, Pg 112/288

I could not read the writing for the spelling of the wife's name - it might
have been Angelia or Angelica.
I could not read the writing for the age of the son, Frank - it could have
been a 3 or an 8.
