Looking for information on Philip SCHEIDWEILER/WEILER, age 78, and his fourth wife Christina/Chrisiana ___, age 23, who were murdered in their Breslau, (Babylon), Suffolk Co., NY home in Jan. 1887. Philip and his first wife, Katharina LIECHTI, were my gggrandparents. According to New York Times reports of the murder investigation, Christina's mother was Barbara, the wife of Jacob OBERST (called Christina's step-father in the newpaper accounts). A daughter (first name not reported) by Philip's second wife, was the wife (her 2nd marriage) of Arthur PARTHE, who found the bodies.

WEILER family tradition had mentioned this tragedy. On-line New York Times sources report the gruesome details of the murders and the fact that no one seems to have been caught. If anyone has access to newspaper accounts (from Breslau or elsewhere in Suffolk Co.) or any other information, I would very much like to hear from you. There may be probate records, as it sounds like a fight was brewing, but Suffolk Co. probate records available through the LDS do not go that late.

My progress on this "Cold Case File" is currently frozen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
