There does not seem to be much clarification in the early genealogies (Hedges, Howell, etc.)

One lead might be having to do with where the names are associated. Parsons was never on the early lists of Southampton, suggesting that maybe he came directly from Lynn, in the late 1640's. The same is true for Garlick. However Hand seemed to be in Southampton as early as 1644. That could possibly suggest that Parsons and Garlick had been together in Lynn through the '30s and '40s. I cannot find much showing if Hand had been there prior to SH. From this one could conjecture that perhaps Parsons had married
Garlick in Lynn, migrated to EH, then perhaps later was widowed and married Hand.

That is a VERY (!!!!) broad speculation, but could be a theory worth checking out.
