Are there any records of arrivals in 1817 to Long Island? When my ancestor David Holmes was 21 years of age he left North Ireland as a farmer, and came to the US, and staying in Long Island for some time before moving to Simsbury, Hartford Co, Connecticut. He is in Connecticut by 1823, as that is the year of his marriage to Lucretia McCorney.
