I checked the book "History of Ulster County with Illustratrions and
Biographical Sketches of its Prominent Men and Pioneers by Nathaniel Bartlett
Sylvester with added all name index by Carol Harris Weber, published by Heart
of the Lakes Publishing, Interlaken, NY 1994. This is a reproduction from
original copy by Minisink Valley Historical Society, Port Jervis, New York."

"TOWN OF ROCHESTER
War of 1860-65
The following list of those who served in the suppression of the great
rebellion is made up from the printed muter-in-rolls of the
state, from the manuscripts of the census-takers of 1865, aided by the
memoranda of John L. Bell, and by the recollection of other citizens. There
is no record of the names in the town clerk's office, as was expected , under
the law of 1865:

James T. Cutler, enlisted 1864, 20th Regiment
Cornelius Cutler, enlisted March 1865, 20th Regiment"

"TOWN OF SAUGERTIES
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF MALDEN.
This society was incorporated by a certificate executed February 17, 1834.
...

The first pastor was the Rev. John N. Lewis, who was called October 10, 1834.
...The succeeding pastors of the church Revs. J. J. Bush, 1837; Henry N.
Beers, 1844; Josiaj Leonard, 1848; D. W. Sharts, 1858; Lyman Gilbert, 1859;
William Hart, 1864; J. P. Stratton, 1868; George P. Noble, 1871; N. F.
Nickerson, 1878. The latter is the present stated supply and acting pastor.

The present officers are: Elders - David Bigelow, D.A. Wolf, Peter M. Mower,
Edward Bigelow, John A. Sherrod, and Claudius M. Parris; Trustees - David
Bigelow, D.A. Wolf, John Isham, JAMES CUTLER, James Hill, Henry Ashdown;
David Bigelow, Clerk."

" TOWN OF WAWARSING
VI - SCHOOLSThe public school system of the town was organized in 1813, under
the new act of the previous year. From that date down to the year 1844 the
following persons served one or more years each as commissioners of common
schools; ...SAMUEL W. CUTLER ...." (Note: His name was listed as the next to
last and these were not alphabetical so it may have been closer to the 1844
timeframe. - Carolyn)

"The tannery at Wawarsing, now owned by the Ellenville Company dates back
many years. It was built by THURSTON W. CUTLER. It was sold by him to B. W.
Dietz. William Morse and N. T. Childs formed a partnership about 1853,
bought the property, and carried on the business for several years. It then
changed hands and was owned by various proprietors, one firm making upper
leather there in large quantities. The Ellenville Company bought the
property about 1870."

"THE SOUTH WOODSTOCK METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH.
This society executed a certificate of incorporation July 28, 1873esiding
officers of the meeting were SAMUEL F. CUTLER and Alfred Gulnack. The
trustees chosen were SAMUEL F. CUTLER, William C. Shultis, Alfred Gulnack,
William Short and David Sagendorf. The instrument was verified before
William H. Plass, justice of the peace and recorded October 10, 1873. A
convenient house of worship was soon after erected, at an expense of $1525,
and dedicated June 25, 1874. The pastor at that time was Reverend C. H.
Reynolds. His successors have been Reverend Charles Gorse, Reverend R. L.
Shurter, and the present minister in charge is Reverend D. M. Powell. The
society have not erected a parsonage. The present officers (March 1880) are
Madison Shultis, SAMUEL F. CUTLER, Frederick Happ, William C. Shultis, Alfred
Short, Trustees; President of the Board, SAMUEL F. CUTLER; Clerk of the
Board, Frederick Happy; Class-Leader, Issiah Short; Stewards, Isiah Short and
Madison Shultis; Recording Stewart, Frederick Happy."
