The Hunt name has been mentioned recently on this mailing list. I came
across the following for a Thomas Hunt. I would guess that he died
1740-42 (modern calendar). It doesn't give much information, but maybe
enough to be helpful to someone.

New York"

Year 1894

Volume 3 page 368 - an abstract of Liber 14 page 278

George Clarke, Esq., Lieutenant-Governor.
Whereas, THOMAS HUNT, of Westchester, died intestate,
Letters of administration are granted to his wife Sarah.
February 1, 174½.

174½ or 1741/2 or 1741/42 are representations of a double date. By
modern calendars, the year was 1742.

I believe I heard that at that time the governor's office had the final
say as to who would get the Letters of Administration, which would be
why his name is mentioned.
