If you also have access to HeritageQuest (check your local library), there are differences in the indexing methods and sometimes one database works better than the other. With HQ you can look for Arthur (no last name, age whatever) born England, for example. Also Hurley (assorted spellings, no first name) born Ireland.

Have you tried the ship sites yet, and Ellis Island?
