Randy Harness, 72, of Oliver Springs,TN died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his home.

Born July 10, 1936, in Campbell County, he had lived in the area since early childhood. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, he was a retired carpenter and a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by parents, John R. Harness and Dellah Patterson Harness; sister, Geraldine Mullins; and brothers, Kenneth Harness, Edwin Harness, Neil Harness, David Harness and John R. Matthew Harness.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Taylor Harness of Oliver Springs; daughters and son-in-law, Gwendolyn White of LaMesa, Calif., and Delia and Robbie Robbins of Oliver Springs; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy Lee Harness of Alpine, Calif., Eddie S. Harness and Goman "Tiny" and Gloria Harness, all of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, John A. Harness, Charlie Gaylor, Kalen Patterson, Jacklynn Gaylor, Austin Robbins, Zach Harness, Wendy Rhodehamel, Josh White and Casie White; great-grandchildren, Gavin Rhodehamel and Emrhien Rhodehamel; brothers and sisters-in-law, W.C. and Janie Harness of Briceville and MacArthur and Cindy Lou Harness of Oliver Springs; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in Laurel Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Braden officiating; the body will lie in repose in the church one hour prior to the service. Graveside service, with full military honors, and burial will be at Laurel Grove Cemetery.
