Subject: No puns intended - genealogy gone wrong

HUMOR. Thanks to Gerold Whittaker <> and to
the Hampshire [England] mailing list on RootsWeb from which
Gerold extracted these. Gerold writes: "The puns . . . all
stemmed from one reader's response to an unusual name found in
the UK census. The message which started it all read: `There was
an interesting name in the '91, the Master of a particular boat
in Portsmouth Harbour the evening of the census, was a man named
Obadiah Lemon Orange. I do not know if his mates were having a
joke or that was his actual name. These censuses make
interesting reading . . .'"
The first response was:
* Was Obadiah Lemon Orange a limey?
After that, came a flood:
* Orange ya glad you didn't make that one up?
* Many thanks for the awful pun Brian but having made a 'fruitful'
search, I can't think of one in return
* Oh my . . . what a pear you two are . . .
* Yes indeed! We could probably accomplish grape things together!
* I shall refrain from inflicting list members with any more of
these. I'll behave, kumquat may.
* All this sounds a bit fruity to me!
* All those dreadful puns were driving me bananas so I am most
grapefruit for the relief!
* People are sure passing out a lot of RAZZ Berrys lately!
