Greetings relations,
My great great grandfather was James O'Donnell from County Tipperary
(this is all I have on him). He first came to the US around 1860 or so
(not sure). I believe he first went to Boston, MA as it mentions to
copy his obit. to the Boston papers in it. The obit. also refers to his
sister, "MRS. WILLIAM FARRELL" - a person I have still been unable to
identify. Sometime before 1863 James O'Donnell married Catherine
DONOVAN in New York (she was from the Parish of Urlingford, County
Kilkenny) and best I can figure my great granduncle John Thomas
O'Donnell was their first son born in 1863 in New York. After that they
travelled around the Cape Horn and moved to San Francisco & had 4 more
children. All of these relations as far as I know were based in/out of
San Francisco.
1. James William O'Donnell (1864-1929) - my great grandfather who
married Minnie E. KERR (daughter of Mathew KERR (County Louth) & Maria
B. NUGENT (County Kilkenny). They had one son only - my grandfather
Mathew John O'Donnell born December 18, 1893.
My grandfather Mathew John O'Donnell had 4 children also - two of which
died around one year old leaving my father Mathew Robert O'Donnell
(1922-1997) (christened as "Robert Mathew O'Donnell") and my uncle,
James William O'Donnell (1924-1996) only.
2. Joseph Francis O'Donnell (1873-1928)- my other great granduncle -
he never married.
3. Catherine BARNES (nee O'Donnell) (1876-~1900) - died before 1905
but not exactly sure of the date or of she had any children. Another
"unidentifiable" person.
4. Susannah May MORRIS (nee O'Donnell) - (1879-1963) and married John
J. Morris and had one son - John J. Morris, Jr. born in 1909. I do not
know if her son is still alive or not. I have tried to locate him to no
avail. He would be very old (about 90).
If has connections to any of these people please let me know.
Thanks!!!
Susanna
