Hi - thought I'd post this to the list because I'm not sure who originally
posted that enquiry about the O'Donnels and Sharkeys from Dungloe, Donegal.
I have transcribed the Griffiths Valuation for Templecrone Parish (from
1857), which is where Dungloe is located, and there are O'Donnells and
Sharkeys in Dungloe at that time. I have that valuation on my website at
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/6906
I haven't transcribed all of the Tithe Applotment book (dated 22 October
1828), but there were O'Donnells and Sharkeys there at the time too, living
fairly close to each other. If whoever originally posted the query wants to
email me, I'll have a good look through and extract the names for you.
You mentioned that the couple you are tracing came to Australia in 1879 and
gave the ship name - have you looked at the passenger and boards lists? They
usually also include the names of the parents of the immigrants and their
residence, if they are living.
