Kate Ashley <>, posted the following to the ASHLEY-L
list (reposted with permission). Any connections? Let Kate (and us,
of course) know.

Slán,

Mo! (Hanrahan) Langdon

Hello, I'm new to this list. My father and I have traced some of the
ASHLEY family in Newfoundland (Canada) and the information might be
useful to some of you. I know that one of my grandfather's brothers
moved to the (northern?) United States. I'll start at the beginning,
though. Unless otherwise stated everyone was born in St John's. The
information, though patchy, comes from the 1921 Newfoundland Census
and the records of the St John's Basilica and St Patrick's Church:

John Ashley (b. 1784?, d. 1890) m. 1829 Ellen Carroll (b. 1806, d. 1888)
Children:
Mary b. 1830
John Louis (Lewis?) (b. 1833) m. 1868 Alice Therry
m. 1880 Elizabeth Brennan (3 kids)
William b. 1837
John (Thomas?) (b. 1839) m. 1873 Mary Walsh (1 kid)
m. 1885 Bridget Stacke (1 kid)
Ellen b. 1845
Daniel (b. 1845, d. c.1921) m. 1874 Anastasia O'Donnell (7 kids)
James b. 1854 m. 1876 Anna O'Donnell (4 kids)

I'll send information on their children later. I know most about the
descendants of Daniel (my grandfather)

Bye!
Kate Ashley
