Subject: [OH-2NDINF] Welcome!

Hello,
Welcome to OH-2NDINF at Rootsweb. This mailing list is for those
researching the Ohio 2nd Regiment Volunteer Infantry, during the American Civil War.
This is a no flame, no spam, family-oriented mailing list for anyone
interested in researching the history of this military unit or their ancestors who
were in it. Please feel free to post your ancestor's name, rank, dates,
company, etc. or any other information you may have, including the unit's history,
research sources, etc.

My ancestor was Jesse Lee, Private, Ohio 2nd Regiment Volunteer Infantry,
Company B, 1861-1863. He died in 1863 at Camp Dennison, Ohio and is buried at
Woodhill Cemetery in Franklin, Warren County, Ohio. His wife was Catharine
Floyd Lee. I have obtained some information on Jesse from the National
Archives (NARA) from his pension file.

I have a corresponding message board for this unit at Yahoo Groups. If you
would like to join that group as well, go to the home page and create a user
name and password and you can subscribe (it's free.) That group has a
message board, photos section, links, archived messages, databases, and more. That
home page is at:

_http://groups.yahoo.com/group/2ndRegimentOhioInfantry_
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/2ndRegimentOhioInfantry)

Both groups were created so that researchers could share whatever they might
have in the way of ancestor information, military records, family stories,
queries, etc. in a friendly, informal, not-so-academic atmosphere. Please
feel free to post anything you might have....no post it too "trivial" as long as
it relates to this unit or your ancestor who was in it, or even the culture
of the time. I myself, know very little about the civil war or this unit, the
battles, etc. and I would like to learn more of what life was like for my
ancestor and his family during this period. Reenactors are also welcome, to
join in and contribute ideas and information, and all are encouraged to post
sources such as web sites, books, census records, etc. which might be helpful
for research.
