"Deaths of a Day

CHARLES J. NEUER

Charles Joseph Neuer, seven-year old son of John and Irene Hess Neuer, died at
7:50 p.m., Thursday [July 4, 1929], in the family residence, 554 W. 31st. The
child was taken ill May 1 and on May 20 was removed to St. Vincent's Hospital
for treatment. Two weeks later he was removed to his home where he was given
every attention.

Charles was a student at Sacred Heart [Roman Catholic Elementary] School,
[Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania], and was a great favorite with his playmates
and school friends.

Besides his parents, he leaves two sisters, Betty Anna and Rose Marie Neuer;
his maternal greatgrandmother, Mrs. Conrad Hess; his maternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hess, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Neuer, of
Toledo, [Lucas County], O[hio], [USA].

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the family residence and
at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart [Roman Catholic] Church [Erie, Erie County,
Pennsylvania].

Interment will be in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery [Erie, Erie County,
Pennsylvania]."

Charles Joseph Neuer was born May 16, 1922 and he died on Thursday evening,
July 4, 1929, at the residence of his parents, 554 West 31st Street, Erie,
Erie County, Pennsylvania.

Charles Joseph Neuer was 7 years of age at the time of his death; he died
following a lingering illness of two months.

He was a son of John J. Neuer, formerly of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, and the
former Irene Theresa Hess, of Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Charles Joseph Neuer was the grandson of Josef 'Joseph' Willem S. Neuer, 1864-
1926, of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, USA, formerly of Germany and
Elisabetha 'Elisabeth' Boehm Neuer, 1866-1958, formerly of Toledo, Lucas
County, Ohio, formerly of Germany; of Johannes 'John' Conrad Hess, 1866-1937,
of Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, USA, formerly of Germany, and his wife,
Margaret 'Maggie' Daub HESS, 1866-1933, of Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.

Charles Joseph Neuer was the great grandson of Conrad 'Konrad' H. Hess, Jr.
1842-1921, formerly of Annweiler, Rhine Pfalz, Bayern, Germany, then of
Hamilton County, Ohio, [1866], and died December 28, 1921, at his residence,
2126 Parade Street, in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania and of his wife
Elizabeth[a] Schallang Hess, born December 11, 1845, formerly of Annweiler,
Rhine Pfalz, Bayern, Germany, then of Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, where
she died April 29, 1838, at the age of 92 years, in their residence at 2126
Parade Street, Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Charles Joseph Neuer was of the Roman Catholic religion; he attended Sacred
Heart Catholic Church and was an elementary student in Sacred Heart Roman
Catholic Elementary School, in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
