I have little to add to Marilyn's reply....she is right ....from what I see,
there isn't a Lewis Swope in Ohio in 1830 or 40. I did check a lot of variant
spellings and spelling errors, but did not find anything for him. He is most
likely living with family in those censuses. It wasn't unusual for two or
three families to live together back then....in very small, cramped spaces no
less.
What I did find extra for you that might be of help, is
1830
David Swope Seneca Co, Fort Seneca, Ohio page 146
Henry Swook (probably Swoop...aka Swope) Seneca Co, Fort Seneca, Ohio page 148
1840
In Start Co,, Osnaburg Twp, page 35...was Andrew Swope and on page 34 was
James SWAPE aka...obviously Swope.
I also did look at 1850 to see if Lewis Swope actually ever did show up in a
census...and sure enough...under yet another variant spelling...SWOAP
He was as follows
Louis Swoap Seneca Co, Pleasant page 314. Also in Pleasant Twp on page 310
was Samuel Swoap
In Senca Co, Jackson page 418 was Henry Swoap and Daniel Swoap was on 412 of
the same.
Maybe some of the above will help. I highly suspect that your Lewis/Louis
was living with family in 1830...and possibly in 1840, though he could be
lurking yet with still another wild variant spelling, though I really combed
the index for some off-beat ones.
Sorry I can't help out more.
