Rose and Richard,
Martin Rinehart age 82 is there in the 1840/OH/Butler/Hanover.
Rose----At Ancestry Geo Rinehart is close to the middle of page 3
(handwritten) and microfilm #22 (The microfilm # is stamped on every other
page. For this Twp the 2nd page of the sheet received the microfilm #) and
this is image 3 of 22. Click to go to the next image. Martin is listed
about the middle of this image. He is in the column: "Pensioners for
Revolutionary or Military Services, Included in the Foregoing" This is page
4 (handwritten) and microfilm #23 (Since the 1840 census sheets were so wide
they had to be microfilmed as 2 images. When the microfilm # was stamped on
the pages that contained the 2nd half of the information instead of the
first half of the information. I haven't viewed the 1840 census much so I
don't know if this is normal.) and this is image 4 of 22.
Rose, I hope you can understand what I'm saying about the microfilm #. When
you are at image 3 of 22 for George at Ancestry, click the BACK arrow (Full
Screen View) and at the top you will have microfilm #22. Or click forward
and you'll have the page Martin is on which is microfilm #23. Click the
arrow to go forward and you'll get a sheet with names and no microfilm #.
Click the arrow forward again and then you get the 2nd half of the sheet
which may or may not have a name but does contain the microfilm # of #24.
Contact me personally Rose if you need more explanation about the microfilm
numbering.
Finding Martin was a real eye-opener. The few times I've used the 1840 I
didn't think to check the 2nd half of the sheet for names. I'm rechecking
the few 1840 images I have saved to see if I missed any names.

Rinehart, as per history, and census figures (approx), etc. The John
Rinehart is a brother.

Rinehart being viewed, even though listed, is a puzzle. UNLESS he is
written in somewhere on the page, or next page, or on total Township page,
or in margin, or such?? His name must be listed somewhere, to be listed
somewhere in the "index", etc. Also, this was an 1840 census, and all
recorders were ordered to list by name, and count, all veterans still alive
of the Rev War!!, so he may be in the count for son George (who he was
living with); and said veterans were to be listed, whether head of
household, or not. Somewhere on that census he is surely listed, by name,
even is not accounted for in correct "box". I have seen them entered on the
same line for the Head of Household, but way over to the right;

togrther.
