Hi Mary Lou,
Came over from where? That info could help a great deal!
Here are the men named 'Ignace' in Ohio in 1860:
1860 Ohio Census
Ignace Kline 36 1823 Darmstadt Cleveland Ward 2, Cuyahoga, Ohio
Male
Ignace Kortwanker 35 1824 Baden Cincinnati Ward 11, Hamilton,
Ohio Male
Ignace Kling 38 1821 Germany Harrison, Montgomery, Ohio Male
Here are those with surname Ecabert:
J P Ecabert 40 1819 Switzerland Cynthian, Shelby, Ohio Male
Terrissa Ecabert 37 1822 France Cynthian, Shelby, Ohio Female
Julia Ecabert 3 1856 Ohio Cynthian, Shelby, Ohio Female
I looked at the census image and it's difficult to tell whether that's
J. P. Ecabert or I. P. Ecabert. The census taker made his upper case
J's, I's and even some F's look very similar! Does this information
look like your Ignace at all?
Name: J P Ecabert
Age in 1860: 40
Birthplace: Switzerland
Home in 1860: Cynthian, Shelby, Ohio
Gender: Male
Value of real estate: View image
Roll: M653_1036
Page: 341
Year: 1860
Head of Household: J P Ecabert
I don't find a J.P., I.P., Ignace, Terrissa, or
Julia Ecabert in 1870 or 1880 and no Ignace, I. or
I.P. Ecabert in 1850 -- I searched all state indexes
available, not just Ohio. Sorry.
Regards,
Terri McDonald Hauk
