Hi Sandy, The only Solomon/Soloman Johnston that came up in the index was
this one in Hamilton Co. You mentioned "young" but didn't give us an idea
of age; I didn't find any Johnston family listed for Monroe Co in 1860.
1860, Oh, Hamilton Co, Colerain twp, pg 228;
Soloman (their spelling of the name) Johnston, age 30, b. Virginia, cooper;
he is in the household of Geo. Lehnbwter (I'm not sure after seeing the name
on the actual census page that Geo's last name is spelt that way but it is
how it is indexed).. If this is not your Solomon, can you give us an idea of
age and where you think he was born, plus - the 1860 on Ancestry is an
everyname index so even if you knew any siblings it might help locate his
family. I checked the 1850 to see what I could find and their are 2 Solomon
Johnston's that come up in the index in OH;
one is age 23, b. OH and found in Logan Co, Harrison twp;
one is 25, b. OH, found in Muskingum Co, Meigs twp;
If you want a reading on either of these, you can repost to the list. Hope
