Eureka....found what I needed to share info about prisons in the South. From an article in NGS News Magazine, Jan/Feb/March 2005.....
Florence, SC.... try home page Friends of the Florence Stockage.
Also prisons in Greensboro, NC and Wilmington NC.
The General Lyon, a ship, floundered and sank returning prisoners, "bound to fair Potomac's shore."
