Good question! I think that John came through NY-- he met & married Brigid
LAughren somehwere other than Cleve., in 1862, and I know she entered at NY.
A second set of Allens, John, wife Alice McLAughlin, Thomas & his wiofe
Brigid, came through Canada, since one son was born there. This second set
of Allens did not arrive until the 1870's.
