There is a company in CA that will provide international checks, money
orders, etc. in pounds sterling or whatever elses you need. Their fee for
the service is only $5.00. The cheapest of our local banks that provides
them charges $25.!! Here is their info:

As you can see, it is a toll free call. You call with information (name you
want the check made out to, etc.)-- you muct provide your credit card info
over the phone. They tell you the final charge which includes the fee +
cost of currency. They will mail the check to you; you then forward on to
wherever you are placing the order. I have used them several times with
great success.
