Parnell~

Walsh is not one of my surnames it is one of Karen Hiatt's. My surnames are
Rooney, Friel, Fadden/Fagin/McFadden, Cooney and Cleary with connections to
Old St. Pats. However, a few years back my husband and I were working on our
Irish citizenship and passports which require Baptism and marriage
certificates going directly back to the Irish emigrant. Also, the person
seeking must be no more than 2nd generation. My husband and I made a morning
trip to the parish house armed with our grandparents names and approx.
marriage dates and our parents birth dates for baptism. The lady was most
gracious, pulled out the old books and we obtained our certified copies. To
our surprise, the marriage certificates had our great grandparents address in
Ireland and of course, the one couple who had emigrated here and had moved up
from the "Angle".
One problem I had which my husband jokes about to this day, my Gran's maiden
name was listed as Patton instead of Fadden! Probably the thick Mayo brogue
which over the years she lost. It did make that document useless but my
mother's marriage license from City Hall had the required link of my mother
to Gran to Ireland!
You can try mail request or call but I really feel, a personal visit would be
best. You may be referred to the Archives if you use the former methods.
