Recently, when researching "my" Virgil Mahoney, I came upon the following
web site which might be of some interest to those of you with connections on
the West Side. It wasn't strictly an Irish parish, but from the names I
found in this interesting history which also covers the growth and history
of Catholicism in Cleveland, I think many of the parishioners were Irish.
Some of my Mahoney relations were evidently members, because 2 of them were
listed among those who served in World War I. "Virgil Mahoney, 2347
Riverside Avenue, made the supreme sacrifice" -- his brother Raymond also
served.

The article is called "The early history of St. James Parish" -- check it
out. I'm not from the Cleveland area, but I found it interesting.
