Lorain County is the next door neighbor for Cuyahoga County. Cleveland
Ohio is a city in Cuyahoga County.
The cities of Lorain and Elyria are probably the largest cities in
Lorain County. Since your ancestors arrived in 1860, they might be found in
the 1870 or 1880 census. The 1880 census is on line for the US at the LDS
site. As Janet Friend (another Cleveland researcher) says, it is listed on
the "thingy" at the side to click on.
Are you positive the surname is Looney. That is an Irish name but I
found that on one death certificate for my family, the surname Rooney had
been incorrectly put as Looney.
