My great grandfather, on my grandmother's side (Sarah Winters) was reported
as being a squire on Euclid Avenue...considering the positions of the Irish
at that time I would think that this meant he was a stable hand...his name
was William C. Winters/Samantha Ellen McGlynn Winters was his wife, (their
names can be found in the Cleveland Necrology File at the Cleveland Public
Library) they went on to move to Newburgh/Holy Name Church vicinity....does
any of this sound familiar to anyone out there...searching McDevitt, Sands,
Calpin (Youngstown) Witter also Unionized workers at the steel plants....my
uncle, Dan, had a lot to do with this. Can we start a conversation about
the east side and the Irish who settled there?
