Hi, My father, James Calvey attended and boarded at Villa Angela from 1924
through 1926, 4th, 5th and sixth grade. I have recently been given his
report cards from those years. They all list St. Joseph's Seminary as his
school at Villa Angela. The cards are all signed by Sister M. Amadeus. My
Dad's family lived on Detroit Ave, on the West side. I have been told that
he was able to attend Villa Angela with the help of his uncle, Father
Edward Calvey who was pastor of St. Patrick's on Rocky River Dr. He always
seem to recall his days there with enjoyment. Several years ago, in the
early 1960's we were driving on the east side and he had me drive through
the school grounds. It was dark, but still it looked like a beautiful area.
If any one is interested in information about St. Patrick's on Rocky River
Drive, the current pastor has written a history of the Church. When I was
looking for information on the Calvey family, I called him and he sent me
what he had written about Father Calvey's time there, which was of great
help to me.
