Pat~
When my mother spoke about her grandparents on Washington and also
Mulberry, she often mentioned a store on the corner. For some reason, I
associated the store with her grandparents. However, the 1910 census which
lists my great grandparents at 204 Washington St., states my g grandfather
was a RR brakeman.
The surname was Friel, Henry Thomas and Margaret (Peggy) Cooney Friel. Her
60 year old brother Edward was living with them.
I wonder if the store maybe sold penny candy and mother would be walked
there by her grandparents? At the time of my g grandmother's death in 1919,
my mother would have been 7 years old (B. 1912).
It's interesting to go down there of a weekday morning with minimal
traffic, trying to picture it as it was so long ago. It is wonderful to have
pictures, great treasures.
