Alice~
I don't have any pictures but currently, my sister and her husband have
a loft apartment in the old Fries and Schele (SP) building. The street for
her address is W. 26th. It runs parallel to W 25 and The Market. Therefore,
I am thinking that the next two parallel streets would be the ones you are
seeking and be very near St. Ignatius High School and Carroll Ave.
The street which connects them (W25/26) and now has the Brewery and
lovely little shops with outside seating in warm weather, is Market Street I
believe.
With her now living there with no memories because she is the "baby" of
the family, in warmer weather we both are enjoying exploring the neighborhood
of our emigrant ancestors. My mother fears to quote her, "You're becoming
addled! Why would you want to live there?" In mother's mind it is the
depressed late 1940s area which caused her to move my Gran out to West Park.
Ohio City appears to be gaining a new momentum. However, with $250,000 +
condos and townhouses being built, one wonders where the poorer residents
will go? It is becoming a very upper end population.
