The following is a transcription of a letter dated
September 27, 1946, from Perry Robb of Salem, Ohio to
his cousin Clarence D. Robb in Warren, Ohio.
629 E. 5th Street
Salem, Ohio 9/27/46
Dear Cousin Clarence;
We are as well as common father is still having some
trouble with his left eye but otherwise is ok.
I am inclosing a slip showing the birth of all the
uncle and aunts as well as grand father and grand
mother Robb this list gies your fathers middle name as
well as date of birth. Your grand-father and
grand-mother were both german your great grand parents
on both sides read their german bibles. I think aunt
Lydia has the german bible of great grandmother
Leonards. I do not know where the bible is that great
grand father Robb had.
Uncle Johnson that you speak of is Uncle Johnson
Leonard your grand-mothers brother that went to
California in the gold rush in 1849 he never came back
east. He married late in life and lived past 80 years
but just how old he was when he died I do not know.
Uncle Leonard Robb no children.
Great grand father Robb and his two wives are burried
in the cemetary north of Berlin Center across from the
church and great grand father Leonard and wife are
burried west of Berlin Center their names were William
and Catherine great grand father Robbs name was Jacob
and his two wives Elizabeth and Polly. Elizabeth was
his first wife.
Jacob Robb died 10/16/84 at the age of 87 yrs 1 mo.
and 25 days Elizabeth Robb died 11/2/1854 aged 54
years. 5 mo. and 10 days Polly died 4/5/1871 age 67
yrs. I am of the opinion grand father Robb was born
of Jacob and Elizabeth Robb as Polly the second wife
was but three years younger than the first wife.
William Leonard was born in 1787 died in 1842 age 55
his wife Catherine Leonard was born in 1793 died in
1884 aged 91 at her death her offspring numbered 104.
It is quite dry here have not had a rain of any
consequence for weeks.
Hope you are all well.
Love and best wishes,
Perry
