FALLING LEAVES
David Maxwell, an old and highly respected citizen of
Jefferson county. Passed over Jordan to the boarderland
Saturday afternoon. December 19 1891, at the family residence,
near Reed's Mills, in the eighty-first year of his age. Mr.
Maxwell was born in Cross Creek township this ocunty and lived
all his life near the place of his birth. He leaves four sons
and three daughters, besides an aged wife, now bordering on
eighty, to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and
father. The sons are Charles P. of Unionport, O. D. W. of this
city; J. H. of Dennison, and Rev. A. T. Maxwell, of near
Cleveland O. The daughters are Harriet B. May and Sarah E.,
all at home. Mr. Maxwell was an adherent of the Presbyterian
faith, stictly honest and upright in all his dealings wit his
fellow man, He died as he lived, in the hope of a glorious
resurrection.

Note: David's father early settler at Cross Creek, Reeds Mill,
Jeff. Co. Oh. Built a mill on Cross Creek in 1806, and the
first two story brick home at Cross Creek.

No record found of a daughter May Maxwell.

Sarah (Ball) Maxwell;
Mrs Maxwell, widow of the late David Maxwell died this morning
at Unionport, age eighty five (1894). The following children
survive: David W. of the city (Steubenville/Unionport) James
Maxwell of Dennnison, Rev. Albert Maxwell, Charles Maxwell of
Unionport, and Mrs. McLane of Irondale, Oh.
Note: This date of 1809 is incorrect. Sarah born in June 18,
1816. Who ever put in the orbit was wrong on her birth date.
They probably were confused since her husband David was born
1810.
