DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND IN A BARN
JAMES MASON
The body of James Mason, an old colored resident of Frankfort, was found
lying in a stall in a barn int he rear of his home. The discovery was made
Thursday morning by Abraham Stookey, who was attracted to the barn by the
unpleasant odor.

The last seen of Mason prior to the time of the discovery of his body in
the
barn was Monday morning.

It is supposed that he entered the barn Monday evening to sleep for the
night
in the hay loft, as he was accustomed to do. As he was known to be
afflicted
with heart trouble, it is thought that he was attached with a spell of this
when entering the barn and that he died shortly afterwards.

Mason was 65 years of age and had made his home in Frankfort for a number
of
years. He had been twice married, but at the time of his death he was not
living with either of his wives, who are both living. (September 2 is hand
written which I assume to be the d.o.d. based on what else is on the page.
