Twelfth Annual Picnic of Allen County Pioneers
Excerpts from the article:
The twelfth annual picnic of the pioneers of Allen county, held in the usual
place, the Crites grove, near Elida, yesterday, under the auspices of the
Elida Pioneer Society, was one of the most successful events of the kind that
has been held in Allen county.
The formal program of the afternoon concluded with the presentation, by Dr.
Geo. Hall, of this city, of canes, made from the timbers of Allen countys
first court house, built in 1832, to the pioneers present, who were more than
70 years of age.
