Bill,
After reading bits and pieces of "Watson", it's a real trip. I lived in
the community of Gravel Ridge, outside of Jacksonville and about fifteen
miles north of Little Rock in the late '70s for several years. Your
boys are great. Some of them remind me of a couple of my former
neighbors. Mercy sakes what did go on on Saturday night in that place.

For the rest of Maggieville, you have to know that the town of
Jacksonville at that time was "dry". No alcohol sold anywhere. You had
to go to a store just across the city limits line to get whatever you
wanted. It was sort of a hangout for quite a few of the locals. The
whole place reminded me of Hazzard County, KY, with "them Duke boys",
and the Ledbetter bunch from Yazoo City, MS.

You do great work, Bill. I can see why you "need" a new computer. Tell
your charming wife I vote in favor of you getting a new one. Every good
author needs a good computer. I still have an old Royal typewriter in
the closet and a very old Underwood in my living room. Since I studied
mass comunications in college, I saved all those "communication"
devices. I have a radio with tubes still in it, a cylinder record
player and one of those big fat pencils they made us use in elementary
school. I never could quite make the thing work right.

Keep doing what you're doing, Bill, and thanks for sharing with all of
us.

Dave
