CLEARED OF DEBT IN A MONTH.
A Record Made by the Cleveland Y. M. C. A.
Cleveland, April 18 - All debt clearing records for Cleveland have been broken by the Young Men's Christian Association. Thirty days ago the indebtedness of the association was $114,382.14. Today the association has a surplus of $7.40.
To meet this tremendous liability the association had about $25,000 that had been derived from rents, fees, etc. It was found necessary to raise about $85,000.
Through the aid of four persons, John D. ROCKEBELLER, Mrs. Flora S. MATHER, the wife of Samuel MATHER; L. H. SEVERANCE, and S. T. WELLMAN, the lump sum of $68,000 was raised.
